What is DM keyword trigger automation?

DM keyword automation watches incoming Instagram DMs for keywords you've set, then fires an automated reply matching the keyword. It's the most common customer-support deflection pattern on Instagram — instead of the founder typing "shipping is $5 and takes 3 days" for the hundredth time, the bot does it instantly, and only escalates to a human when the message doesn't match any keyword.

How exactly does the keyword match work?

Case-insensitive substring match. If a keyword is "price", a DM containing "What's the price?" or "PRICE" or "price please" all match. You can list multiple keywords per automation (comma-separated) and they all act as OR conditions.

What if a DM matches multiple keyword automations?

The first automation (in your dashboard order) fires. You can re-order automations to control priority. We don't fire multiple auto-replies for one DM — that would look spammy.

What happens if no keyword matches?

Nothing automated — the DM lands in your inbox like a normal Instagram message. You handle it manually. The bot only handles what you've explicitly configured.

Can I include tracked links in the auto-reply?

Yes. Any URL you paste into the DM is wrapped with click attribution automatically. You can see opens, unique clicks, and CTR per keyword in the analytics drawer.

Is keyword auto-reply within Instagram's 24-hour messaging window?

Yes — replying to an incoming DM is always inside the window (the user's DM just opened a fresh 24-hour conversation). You're free to follow up with additional messages within those 24 hours.

Can the keyword auto-reply ask follow-up questions?

Yes. Your auto-reply can include a follow-up prompt ("want me to send the pricing PDF?"), and you can chain a lead-capture step ("drop your email and I'll send it"). Multi-step flows are supported.

Will Instagram flag my account for using keyword auto-reply?

No. Reachlee uses Meta's official Instagram Graph API and respects all rate limits. Keyword auto-reply is one of the most common Meta-approved automation patterns — same compliance as Manychat and other Meta Business Partners.
